MEDINA, Ohio — Sports
radio host Tony Rizzo, who is accused of domestic violence in connection with
an incident at his home last month, is scheduled to appear in court next month for a jury
is scheduled to appear in Medina Municipal Court Feb. 27 at 8:30 a.m. for a
jury trial, according to court records. He had been scheduled to appear in court for a bench trial Jan. 17;
however, the court granted his request for a jury trial on Jan. 15.
52, of Medina, was arrested Dec. 6 after his wife reported a domestic incident
that occurred at the couple’s home. He is accused of hitting his wife in the
face, according to a police report.
lawyer filed a not guilty plea on his behalf Dec. 9 at Medina Municipal Court,
according to court records.
Rizzo called police Dec. 6 at 8:17 p.m. and reported that she had locked
herself in a bathroom because her husband hit her in the face. She says in a
recording of the 911 call that her husband had been “choking her, hitting
her in the face” prior to her call.
Rizzo is the host of “The Really Big Show,” which airs weekdays from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. on ESPN Radio in Cleveland. He also hosts “The Rizzo Show,”
which airs Sundays at 11 p.m. on Fox 8 in Cleveland.
The radio station said in a statement following the Dec. 6 incident that Rizzo is
